Amy trusted Christ as her Savior around the age of 8 after having heard John Phelan give a Sunday morning preaching on Revelation. While attending teen camp at Horton Haven Christian Camp, she was further convictedto live her life for the Lord. From 1981 to 1983, she attended Emmaus Bible
College, where the Lord gave her a desire for missions and for her husband Joel, an MK from Mexico. They were married in 1986. Their daughter Sarah was added to the family in 1991 while living in Fresno California. In 1999, they were commended to church planting in Mexico by Community Bible Chapel in Dallas TX, where they served until 2007, when the Lord directed them to fill the need of Intercultural Studies director at Emmaus Bible College. Their focus now is training young people to serve the Lord throughout the world. Amy is passionate about speaking truth into the lives of young women, for which opportunities
abound at Emmaus. She will often be found knitting and drinking coffee. At the risk of sounding cheesy, her favorite book really is the Bible. Recently she has discovered a joy in writing and is currently working on a book about walking in the Spirit.

Matt serves as Executive Director and Wendy serves as Registrar and Guest Services Coordinator. Wendy has a real heart for discipling teen girls in their walk with Christ, and to be firmly rooted and grounded in His Word. Their oldest son Justin, his wife Claire and grand-daughter Della live in Columbia, TN, their daughter Holly lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, and their youngest son Nathan and his wife Gisel, were married this past summer and live in Dubuque, Iowa. The Phelan’s are in fellowship at the Nashville Gospel Chapel.
